They're sharing a room!
Since Lilah’s sleeping through the night now, she’s in her crib sharing a room with her big sister! We weren’t to sure how that was going to go but so far so good. They must be sisters…as they have already learned to tune one another out ;-)
Who said dressing up was just for Halloween?

Thank you for the costumes, Grandma! She had a blast dressing up:-)
Valentine's Day Party
We had a couple of Vivianne’s friends over today to celebrate Valentine’s Day. They decorated cookies and made Valentines’s for their Dads. I think they had a good time. Lilah slept through almost all of it—I’m thinking next year she’ll be more “into” it ;-)

Sledding
This weekend we packed up the minivan and headed west to surprise Kris for her birthday. I am forever indebted to Thomas and John for scheduling an entire afternoon of services at the Ivy Spa for Kris and I, followed by a great night out without the kiddos. What a treat! I am seriously considering surprising Kris every year on her birthday ;-) We are in the car on our way back home and I’m still thinking about the spa’s steam room…hmmmm….maybe we should turn around???
The guys were such troopers and took Sidney and Vivianne sledding on Saturday morning. Here’s a short video of them going down what they called the “big” hill.
So I bought this book...
So I bought this book, The Sneaky Chef, for the purpose of trying to “sneak” good stuff (i.e., veggies) into food so that Vivianne wouldn’t notice and eat them. The first recipe I tried was the macaroni and cheese recipe which believe it or not has cauliflower and zucchini in it. She had some, like 3 bites, last night for dinner. She wakes up this morning and I ask her what would she like for breakfast.
Her response: “Macaroni, Mommy!”
Me (all excited by this, she wants more, I’ve won!): “Macaroni and Cheese?” I smile.
Vivianne: “Yea, the real macaroni, not the stuff you made. The orange stuff.”
Me (ARG! Can I handle a low blow this early in the morning?): I sigh, “That’s not a breakfast food.”
Happy 4 Months Old, Lilah!
4 months old today, no way! That flew by! I take her to the doctor next week for her 4 month well visit, and I’m pretty sure the doc will tell me that we’ve got a healthy baby.
Lilah continues to be a happy camper. She recently started to laugh, more like giggle, it is the cutest sound ever…I am on a mission to get it on video asap so you can hear it :-)
She was sleeping through the night, but now has regressed…but this last week it’s only been to get up once right around 2-2:30ish, then once she eats she goes right back down. I hoping (and praying) it’s just a growth spurt and she’ll be back to sleeping through the night again soon.
At night, we all squeeze into Vivianne’s big girl bed and Lilah will listen as I read Vivianne bed time stories…she will just lay quietly on Vivianne’s pillow and watch and listen as I turn the pages. When Vivianne goes to bed, it’s just Lilah and I, and I swear to God she knows it :-) She’s probably thinking, “FINALLY! I’ve got Mom all to myself!” She has already learned to be so patient, to wait her turn, something her big sister never had to really learn, until now and let’s just say that’s still a bit of a work in progress (aahhheemmm, “a bit” may be an understatement).
I’m constantly reminded of the fact that Lilah has never been an only child, never had our undivided attention at her whim…and so during these times, at night, when it’s just she and I, I do my best to make her feel like she’s the only one.

Ivana and Isabel invited us to go with them to see the snow sculptures in Chicago today, so we hoped the train and headed into the big city. It was a pretty nice day, despite the overcast, so it felt good to get outside for a while. Unfortunately, most of the snow sculptures had already started to melt, but that didn’t really matter to the little ones, they had a blast :-)

What?!
I’m laying in bed this morning and hear Lilah start to wake up. She’s not crying just kind of stirring in her crib (their bedroom is right next to ours, so I can pretty much hear them breathing). Vivianne comes bounding into our bedroom and yells at me, “Mom, Lilah’s squawking about you! Go get her!”
She has just recently decided to become a lot more interested in her little sister. I think she finally realized she’s here to stay :-) That and the fact that Lilah is a bit more responsive now…Vivianne will try and get her to smile and laugh, it’s so cute. Sometimes I will recite the tag line from Yogi Bear to Lilah in a funny voice and say, “Hey, hey, hey Boo Boo! It’s Yogi Bear!” Lilah loves when I do this. Anywho, I heard Vivianne trying to say it to her, but she can’t quite do the funny voice part, so Lilah doesn’t give her the reaction she’s looking for, but she still does it. It melts my heart.
