Didier Farms, October 2009
We spent Saturday morning at Didier Farms looking for the perfect pumpkin to carve, ended up with two good ones and a few fun pictures too ;-)
The orange coat Vivianne is wearing belonged to my sister when she was just a tot.
Autism Speaks
A good friend of mine is riding in “Ride for Autism Speaks”, an event dedicated to raising money to find a cure for autism. With our busy schedules and daily routines, I often forget how lucky we are to have good health in our family.
If you have an extra $20 (the minimum donation), I’d sure appreciate you supporting him. His donation page is here and the event is next week. It only takes a minute…
Less than 3 weeks away (hopefully)!
Here’s a side and frontal shot of me and the buddha at 37 weeks, sorry for the glare off the mirror:

We spent today preparing for the baby…got the bouncer set up, the bassinet ready to go, the pack-n-play put together, the baby clothes and blankets washed and folded…now all we need is the BABY!
Two and a half years old, today :-)
Vivianne is half way to three already! Time is flying.
She weighs 27.8 pounds (which puts her right in the middle of the 25-50th percentile)
and is 33 inches tall (5-10th percentile) and she continues to rock out the large head category (75th percentile).
She’s had a rough couple of days with not feeling well, ended up with an upper respiratory infection called croup as well as an ear infection, but we started her on medicine today so hopefully she’ll be back to her old self this weekend.
Oktoberfest
Last night, Thomas and I went to the Gorton Children’s Drop-In Center’s 2009 Oktoberfest Benefit and had an absolute blast! (The Drop-In is a non-profit, part-time child care facility in Lake Forest.) I joined the volunteer parent board for the Drop-In back in February and so I was able to be part of the committee that helped planned the fundraiser.
There was a good turnout and tons of people went home happy after winning some awesome, awesome prizes, including ME!!!!!! I won a $600.00 dollar shopping spree :-) YAHOO! There’s nothing like the thought of a new wardrobe to help give me the extra motivation to lose the baby weight after this little one is born (at least I’m hoping it works that way anyway)! I also purchased a grab bag for $20.00 which contained 2 personal training sessions and 5 bags of english toffee, quite the combination ;-) Thomas enjoyed the German food and beer, and was especially impressed with the sauerkraut! The band was awesome, the games were a hit, and I think everyone who attended had a good time.
AND…Vivianne experienced her very 1st sleep over last night! She stayed overnight at our friend’s place while we went to the event. We picked her up this morning at about 8:00 am. Apparently she did great over there, was in bed by 8:00 pm and no tears! She and her friend, Isabel, played and had a blast together. It was SO weird coming home last night and not having her there and even weirder this morning waking up and not having her home, but even though it was a bit eerie, it was also kind of nice in a way. Although, we could hardly wait to get her back this morning, ok, maybe I could hardly wait to get her home this morning, Thomas probably would have liked to sleep in a little bit longer! Ha!
We interrupt this broadcast...
Tom here. Yes, I am still around…
A few changes to note on the site.
- Do you want a picture of the new baby when it’s born?
If you are interested in getting an email as soon as the new baby arrives, add your email to the list we are sending to using the form over there → (the top-right column)…see it? Put your email in there, click the button, and you will get an email to confirm that you have signed up for the list. Click the link that comes in that email and you will be set up! - Commenting should be “fixed”.
There were some issues w/ people’s comments getting flagged as “spam” and not showing up on the site. We were having issues with comment spam…so we put something in to avoid it. Turns out it was blocking a lot of you “real people” from commenting. We don’t want that. We have swapped out the hacked commenting with a new system to see how it works. The form has a few more fields and may look a little intimidating relative to the one we were using, but you shouldn’t run into issues with it flagging your comments as spam. - RSS Feeds added
This is for the nerds. If you have no idea what this means, act like you didn’t read it. If you do know what it means…excuse the formatting in the feed, it’s not awesome, but I likely won’t work on improving it, since there are only 1 or 2 of you. ;-)
Please use both & let us know what you think. Leave a comment or something…;-)
The countdown is on!
One more week to go! YAHOO :-) We are so excited…basically wondering each morning, will today be the day? Will Vivianne have a little brother or a sister or both…hmmm???
Just kidding about the “both” part, even though I’ve sworn throughout this pregnancy that there must be two babies in there, the gal who has been taking care of me with the “M.D.” behind her last name seems to think otherwise, guess I’ll take her word for it!
Vivianne has given us her input on what the names should be, if it’s a girl, she would like us to name her Luna (which is moon is Spanish) and if it’s a boy, Diego :-) Ha! Do you think she’s a Dora fan or what!
Introducing Lilah Grace...
Born Tuesday, October 20, 2009, weighing 7 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 20 inches in length. She’s been such a good baby so far, we couldn’t be happier :-)
Here’s a little slide show of her first days:
Friday night fun
Kayla came over Friday afternoon and spent the night at our place. She and Vivianne had a blast together making cupcakes, playing dress-up and hide and seek. It was so nice having an extra set of hands to help me out. Keeping up with Vivianne is a job in and of itself and Kayla made it look easy. She even made us all breakfast this morning…we may have to make these sleepovers a weekly event :-)
PS: A special thanks to Grandma Kersten for all the fun Halloween goodies and dress up clothes, as you can see they were a hit!
